Dr. Claire Haycox, MD, PhD
Dr. Haycox was born in England but did all her undergraduate, medical school and graduate training at the University of Washington, in Seattle, WA. She graduated in 1993 with her MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine and her PhD in Bio-engineering. She did her dermatology residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center. She became a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology in 1997.
After residency training Dr. Haycox stayed on as faculty at the University of Washington for two years and then decided she wanted to practice in a smaller, rural community. She moved to Sequim in 1999, initially as a dermatologist with Virginia Mason and founded Valley Dermatology in 2002.
Dr. Haycox is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She has published 31 scientific articles and abstracts, and speaks regularly at regional and national meetings. She has a special interest in hair disorders and also regularly performs Mohs Micrographic surgery.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Haycox enjoys knitting and fiber arts, gardening, cooking and travel.
Dan Walkowski, PA-C
Dan joined Valley Dermatology in 2002. Dan is a lifelong Washington resident and grew up on Bainbridge Island. Before becoming a Physician Assistant, he was a Registered Nurse and worked in long-term care and family medicine for 7 years.
Dan went on to get his Physician Assistant training at the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated in 2002 and has been working in dermatology ever since.
Dan is a member of the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
